Recipe courtesy of Mike Nohl

Picture
INGREDIENTS
  • 10 bratwurst (about 2 pounds)
  • 1 large onion, quartered or sliced
  • 3 to 4 (12 oz.) cans beer
  • 10 brat buns
  • Cooked onions, sauerkraut, spicy brown mustard, ketchup, etc. for toppings.

PREPARATION
Place brats and onions in a dutch oven and pour in enough beer to cover them. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes. Turn heat off and leave the brats in the beer mixture another 15 minutes. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill brats until golden brown and return to beer mixture until ready to serve.

Be sure to use the cooked onions as a topping for your brats! Oh sure, you betcha!
