Manhattan - 2020
Recipe courtesy of Ron Wozny

Picture
INGREDIENTS
  • 3 ounces (2 shots) rye whiskey or bourbon (I prefer Bulleitt Rye or Maker's Mark Whisky)
  • 1.5 ounces (1 shot) sweet vermouth
  • 2 to 3 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Cherry garnish, plus syrup (Amarena cherries preferred, or maraschino)
  • Shaker and martini glass

PREPARATION
In a shaker, add several ice cubes, add whiskey, vermouth and bitters. Shake vigorously for at least 10-15 seconds. Coat the bottom of the glass with a teaspoonful of cherry syrup, and strain your cocktail into the martini glass. Garnish with a cherry or two.

If you prefer your Manhattan on the rocks, as I do, use an old fashioned glass. Same method... Coat your glass with cherry juice, fill with ice and strain shaken cocktail over ice. Don't forget the garnish!

The Manhattan is a foregone conclusion when I get together with my good friend, Kevin Neisel!
